As part of the preparation phase for the international activities, Asociación Tilia organised a series of local workshops in April and May to strengthen participants’ knowledge on youth participation, sustainability and urban regeneration.

The process started with a Youth Participation Workshop on 27 April, offering an immersive experience in participation processes and collaboration with youth from the board of the Consejo Local de la Juventud de Ciudad Real. Participants contributed to the preparation of ideas and proposals for the future Municipal Youth Plan and explored the role of youth councils as representative and participatory bodies

On 18 May, an Introduction to Sustainability Workshop combined theoretical input on sustainability and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with a study visit and practical session in the urban garden of Ciudad Real, as a local example of urban regeneration. Additional urban gardening workshops were organised, allowing young people to continue engaging in hands-on learning

On 24 May, the team participated with a stand in the local Associations Fair, presenting the project to the public, over 75 associations, and municipal representatives, while collecting needs and proposals for possible regeneration spaces in the city

Finally, on 29 May, an Introduction to Urban Regeneration Workshop helped participants understand the concept and process of urban regeneration actions. The session included a review of the proposals gathered from citizens and initial planning of spaces for mapping, in collaboration with architect M. Soledad Solís De Castelli.

These preparatory activities equipped the young participants with the knowledge, practical experience and local context needed to actively engage in the project’s next phases.
